How to renew your Maryland medical marijuana card.
Free renewal help from a Bloom Cannabis patient rep.
Renew on time and you keep shopping from 18, skip the 12% cannabis tax and stay on the patient menu. Most years it's one provider visit, by telehealth if you like. Coming up — or already lapsed? A Bloom rep will walk you through it for free.
About a minute. We never ask about your health.

Everything your card gets you, without a gap.
Your patient status only lasts as long as your certification and registration are current. Renew on time and nothing changes at the register.
18 and up
If you're 18 to 20, a current certification is the only way you can buy at a Maryland dispensary.
No 12% tax
Patients stay exempt from Maryland's 12% cannabis sales and use tax on every purchase.
Patient menu
Keep the medical menu at Bloom Germantown and your 30-day patient allotment.
Easier than the first time.
You're already registered, so most years renewal is one provider visit. If anything stalls, we help — free.
Most years, one visit
Your yearly renewal is a single provider visit — in person or by telehealth. The provider files the new certification for you.
Registration every six years
Your MCA registration only comes due every sixth year. The MCA emails a notice 60 days ahead, and the renewal form in OneStop comes pre-filled.
Same card, free to reprint
Print your patient ID card from OneStop at no charge whenever you need a fresh copy.
Free help if you stall
A Bloom patient rep walks you through any step by phone or email. No health questions, nothing to buy.
What a lapse costs you.
The day your certification or registration expires, you lose patient status at the register until you're current again.
+$12 per $100
Every purchase goes back to recreational pricing with the 12% cannabis tax — if you're 21 or older.
No buying
Without a current certification, you can't buy at a Maryland dispensary at all until you renew.
Void at 120 days
A new certification you don't use within 120 days becomes void, and you'd pay for another provider visit.
Spend $100 a month before tax and a two-month gap costs you about $24 in cannabis tax — plus the patient menu and allotment until you're back on. Booking your provider visit a few weeks early avoids all of it.
Which one sounds like you?
If any of these fit, fill in the form so your rep knows where to start. Not sure? Fill it in anyway — they'll figure it out with you.
“Mine expires soon.”

“I'm stuck in OneStop.”
You can't log in, can't find your Patient ID Number, or your new certification isn't showing.
Four steps, and where people get stuck.
Most years you'll only need steps one to three. Every sixth year, your registration comes due too.
Check both dates
Log in to Maryland OneStop and check when your certification and your registration expire. They're on different clocks, and either one lapsing stops patient purchases. No OneStop account yet? Create one with the same email address that's on your MCA registration. Snag: signing up with a different email, so your registration doesn't show.
Maryland OneStopBook a provider visit
See a provider registered with the MCA before your certification expires — in person or by telehealth. It can be your original provider or a new one. Snag: booking too late and going days without patient status.
A few weeks outGet recertified
If the provider still recommends medical cannabis for a qualifying condition, they issue a new certification in OneStop using your Patient ID Number. You don't file it yourself. Snag: not having your Patient ID Number handy at the visit.
Your provider files itRenew your registration when it's due
Every six years, the MCA emails a renewal notice 60 days ahead. In OneStop, open My Dashboard, click your Patient ID Number, then Actions and Renewal Form — your details come pre-filled. Snag: submitting a brand-new application instead of the renewal form.
Maryland OneStopWhen to renew, and what happens if you're late.
Two dates, two clocks
Your certification lasts up to one year from the day your provider issues it. Your MCA registration lasts six years. Both dates are in your OneStop account. Letting either one lapse stops patient purchases until it's renewed.
Use a new certification within 120 days
Once your provider certifies you, buy at a licensed Maryland dispensary within 120 days. A certification that goes unused for that long becomes void, and you'd need to be certified again.
Your registration has a 60-day grace period
The MCA emails a renewal notice 60 days before your registration expires. If you miss the date, you can still renew for 60 days after it expires. After that, you have to submit a new application and register again. The MCA's official renewal steps walk through it, whether or not you already have a OneStop account.
If something already expired
Until you're back on, you can't buy as a patient. If you're 21 or older you can still shop the recreational menu with a valid ID, at recreational prices and with the 12% cannabis tax. If you're 18 to 20, you can't buy at all until you're current again.

Maryland medical card renewal questions.
What's the difference between renewing my certification and my registration?
Your certification is your provider's recommendation and lasts up to one year, so you renew it with a provider every year. Your registration is how the MCA verifies your identity and Maryland residency and lasts six years, so you renew it yourself in OneStop. Both need to be current to buy as a patient.
How much does it cost to renew?
Printing your patient ID card from OneStop is free, and a physical card costs $25, waived for VA and Maryland Medicaid enrollees. The provider visit for your yearly certification is a separate cost set by the provider.
Can I renew by telehealth?
Yes. Your provider's yearly assessment can happen in person or by telehealth, and registration renewals are done online in OneStop.
When should I start?
Book your provider visit a few weeks before your certification expires so there's no gap. Check both expiration dates in your OneStop account.
What happens if my certification expires?
You can't buy as a patient until a registered provider certifies you again. If you're 21 or older you can still shop the recreational menu with a valid ID in the meantime, with the 12% cannabis tax; if you're 18 to 20, you can't buy at all until you're recertified.
Why did my new certification stop working?
A certification that isn't used to buy medical cannabis at a licensed Maryland dispensary within 120 days of being issued becomes void. If that happened, you'll need your provider to certify you again.
Do I submit a new application to renew my registration?
No. If you're already registered, don't submit a new application. Log in to OneStop, open My Dashboard, click your Patient ID Number, then choose Actions and Renewal Form. Your personal details come pre-filled from your original application.
I registered before OneStop existed. How do I renew?
Create a Maryland OneStop account first, using the same email address that's on your current MCA registration, then renew from your dashboard. If that email needs to change, call the MCA's customer service line at (410) 487-8100.
What if my registration already expired?
You have a 60-day grace period after your registration expires to renew it through the renewal form. After 60 days, you'll need to submit a new application and register again.
Do caregivers renew too?
Yes. Caregiver registrations last two years, not six, and caregivers renew the same way in OneStop. A physical caregiver ID card costs $25.
Can I renew with a different provider?
Yes. Any provider registered with the Maryland Cannabis Administration can issue your new certification.
What does Bloom Cannabis get out of helping me?
We hope you'll keep shopping with us. That's it. We don't certify patients, we take no commission from any provider, and there's nothing to buy.
