Adult-use or medical?

Ohio runs two cannabis programs side by side, and every Bloom Ohio store is licensed for both.

Adult-use

  • Open to anyone 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID.
  • No medical card needed.
  • Daily purchase limit: up to 2.5 ounces of flower and up to 15,000 mg of total THC across other products, such as vapes and edibles.

Medical

  • For Ohio patients registered in the state's medical marijuana program, which requires a qualifying condition and a recommendation from a certified physician.
  • Patients shop the medical menu and get patient pricing.
  • Purchase limits are set by the medical program and differ from adult-use limits.

See Ohio possession limits and Ohio cannabis laws for the full rules.

What to bring

  • Adult-use customers: a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID showing you're 21 or older.
  • Medical patients: your active Ohio registration and the government-issued photo ID you registered with.
  • Caregivers: your active Ohio caregiver registration and your government-issued photo ID.
  • Payment: cash, debit or Aeropay. Every Bloom Ohio store has an ATM in the lobby.

Before you go

Check the hours

Every Bloom Ohio store is open 8 AM to 10 PM, every day.

Look at the menu

Browse the Bloom Ohio menu to see what's in stock at your store and what it costs. If the menu feels like a lot, that's normal — note a few products or categories you're curious about and bring your questions.

Order ahead if you know what you want

Order online, choose Grab & Go at checkout and head to the Grab & Go counter when you arrive. Orders placed ahead are typically ready in about five minutes. Read how to order online. Bloom doesn't deliver.

Write down your questions

About product types, amounts or how to use something — budtenders answer these all day. You can also book a product consultation.

What happens at the store

1. Check in

Show your ID at the front desk, plus your registration if you're a patient or caregiver. The team verifies it before you head to the sales floor.

2. Shop with a budtender

Tell them it's your first visit. A budtender can walk you through product types, explain labels and help you pick something that fits what you're looking for and your budget. Some stores also have self-order kiosks.

3. Or pick up your order

If you ordered ahead, follow the Grab & Go signs to the pickup counter.

Choosing your first products

Every product on an Ohio dispensary shelf is grown or made by a state-licensed company and tested by a state-licensed lab. The main categories:

  • Flower — dried cannabis buds, labeled indica, sativa or hybrid. See the best flower in Ohio.
  • Pre-rolls — flower already rolled and ready to use.
  • Vapes — cartridges and disposables with cannabis oil.
  • Edibles — gummies, chocolates, mints and drinks, with the THC per piece on the label.
  • Extracts — concentrates like live resin and rosin, usually for experienced customers.
  • Tinctures — cannabis oils measured with a dropper.

If you're new, choose a lower-THC product, start with a small amount and go slow. With edibles, start with 2.5 to 5 mg of THC and wait at least two hours before taking more. Our edibles vs. vapes guide explains how the two differ.

Paying and checking out

  • Bloom Ohio stores take cash, debit and Aeropay, with an ATM in every lobby.
  • Totals are rounded to the nearest nickel after tax; the rounding table is posted at the register.
  • The register tracks Ohio's daily purchase limits and stops a sale before it goes over.
  • Join Bloom Rewards at checkout. Every 100 points is worth $5 in rewards.

After your visit

  • Don't use cannabis at the store or in your car. Keep purchases sealed and, while driving, in the trunk or another area passengers can't reach.
  • Store it safely in its child-resistant packaging, away from kids and pets. See how to store cannabis.
  • Never drive impaired. It's illegal in Ohio. Read Ohio's cannabis DUI laws.
  • Keep notes on what you bought and how much you used, so your next visit is easier.

Questions

First-visit questions.

Do I need a medical card to visit a dispensary in Ohio?

No. Adults 21 and older can shop the adult-use menu with a valid government-issued photo ID. A medical card is only needed to buy from the medical menu as a registered Ohio patient.

What ID do I need for my first dispensary visit?

A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID that shows you're 21 or older, such as a driver's license, state ID or passport. Registered medical patients and caregivers also need their active Ohio registration.

How much cannabis can I buy on my first visit?

The same as any other visit. Adult-use customers can buy up to 2.5 ounces of flower and up to 15,000 mg of total THC in other products per day. Medical patients follow the patient program's limits. The register stops a sale before it goes over.

Can I use cannabis at the dispensary or in my car?

No. Cannabis can't be used at the dispensary, and Ohio law doesn't allow using it in a vehicle. Keep purchases sealed and, while driving, in the trunk or another area passengers can't reach.

Does Bloom deliver?

No. Shop in store, or order online and pick up with Grab & Go. Orders placed ahead are typically ready in about five minutes.

What should I buy if I'm new to cannabis?

Tell the budtender you're new. They'll usually suggest a lower-THC product and a small amount to start. With edibles, start with 2.5 to 5 mg of THC and wait at least two hours before taking more.
