What hybrid actually means
A hybrid is a cross between cannabis lines. Breeders have been crossing indica-type and sativa-type plants for decades, so nearly every strain on an Ohio menu has mixed heritage. "Hybrid" on a label usually means the genetics don't lean strongly either way; "indica-dominant" or "sativa-dominant" means one side of the family tree is bigger.

None of those labels predicts how a strain will feel. Terpenes — the compounds behind aroma and flavor — other cannabinoids, how much you use and your own body all shape the experience. Read the full label and ask a budtender if you're unsure.

How to choose a hybrid
With so many hybrids on the menu, a few filters help. They're starting points, not rules.
By aroma
Hybrids run from dessert-sweet (Wedding Cake) and candy-fruity (Caddie Rainbowz, Zoap) to loud and gassy (Swampwater Fumez, Gorilla Glue #4). Pick the flavor family you like, then explore the terpenes behind it.
By THC range
Higher THC means more THC per gram, not a better strain. If you're new, choose a lower-THC option, start with a small amount and go slow.
By cultivator
If you've liked one strain from a grower, their other cultivars are a good next try. See every grower at Ohio cannabis brands.
By format and budget
Ohio flower comes in 2.83 g, 3.5 g, 5.66 g and 14.15 g packages. Smalls and popcorn buds are smaller nugs of the same cultivars at a lower price. Each package is tested for its own batch, so check its label.

Read guideCommon questions about hybrid strains in Ohio.
What is a hybrid cannabis strain?
A hybrid is a cross of two or more cannabis lines. Because breeders have crossed indica- and sativa-type plants for decades, most strains sold today are hybrids. Menus label a strain hybrid when its genetics don't lean clearly one way.
What's the difference between an indica-dominant and a sativa-dominant hybrid?
Those labels describe which side of a strain's family tree is larger. They're a rough guide to genetics, not to how a strain will feel. Terpenes, other cannabinoids, how much you use and your own tolerance matter more.
Why doesn't this guide list THC percentages?
Because they change from harvest to harvest. Every package of Ohio dispensary flower is tested by a state-licensed lab, and its label shows the THC and CBD content for that batch. That label is the number to trust.
Can adult-use customers buy hybrid flower at Bloom Ohio?
Yes. Adults 21 and older with a valid government-issued photo ID can shop the adult-use menu, and registered Ohio medical patients can shop the medical menu. Ohio sets daily purchase limits; see our guide to Ohio possession limits for the details.
Can I order hybrid flower online?
Yes. Order on the Bloom Ohio menu and pick it up in store with Grab & Go. Bring your ID. Bloom doesn't deliver.
