Whether you’re an adult-use customer or medical marijuana patient in Ohio, it’s important to know how much cannabis you can legally buy and possess. Purchase limits help ensure product availability and regulate safe consumption. Here’s a simple breakdown of Ohio’s marijuana purchase limits for 2025 - and how they apply during your visit to Bloom.
Adult-Use Cannabis Purchase Limits
Adults 21+ may legally purchase the following per day from any licensed Ohio dispensary:
- Up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis flower
- Up to 15,000 mg of total THC across all other products (vapes, edibles, tinctures, concentrates and more)
These are daily limits, and the same daily limits apply to adult-use customers and medical patients. Learn more in Senate Bill 56, explained.
Possession Limits for Adult-Use Customers
Adults can legally possess up to:
- 2.5 ounces of cannabis in any form other than extract (flower, pre-rolls, edibles and similar products)
- 15 grams of cannabis extract, such as concentrates
It has to come from a licensed Ohio dispensary or a legal Ohio home grow. See our guide to Ohio possession limits.
Medical Marijuana Patient Purchase Limits
Medical patients may purchase:
- The same daily limits as adult-use customers (2.5 ounces of flower and 15,000 mg of total THC across other products)
- Up to four days’ supply in a single transaction when buying in bulk (caregivers can’t buy in bulk)
Why Purchase Limits Exist
Purchase limits help:
- Maintain product access statewide
- Prevent diversion
- Support responsible adult-use consumption

For general information. This post isn't medical or legal advice. Cannabis rules differ between Ohio and Maryland and can change, so check with the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control or the Maryland Cannabis Administration. Talk to a healthcare provider before using cannabis for a medical condition. For adults 21+ and registered medical patients.
